task 2
planet earth is like so been there done that

Time for a vacation at planet Mars
This week, the designers were tasked with creating a resort-wear type of look that seems suitable for a summer vacation on the planet Mars. Us judges are looking for how the designers combat the task of creating something joyous and carefree like resortwear, while also sticking to the theme of life on Mars (something sci-fi and most often depicten in a dystopian fashion).
Let's see who deserves to get abducted by aliens The Sims 2 style

The strength here is the aesthetic, it's a look. This isn't really some symphony of technical elements, like often is the goal for several designers, I find that it's an interesting route you take here. The styling here is perfect, the colors match beautifully and are all soothing yet interesting and there is an overall carefree vibe to this, which was absolutely the way to go in a resort-related task. Having said that, this look is ALL style and little innovation. Not that PR-looks always have to be about innovation, I just find that for a sci-fi resort task I would've liked to have seen at least one element that's a bit wild or avant garde, even if it's just an accessory. Overall, very nice.
harry
This is hot, I would say the most wearable this week. It's a perfect resortwear outfit, maybe a bit more Avant Garde for this task but the shoes tho... Yum.

This week, miss lobster is skipping the task because of health reasons. They will be back next week and we wish for them to get better ❤️

I have never seen anyone use the tattoo shirt/item this way. It's perfectly integrating with the face-art. Incredible! I'm not so sure this is a resort look, it looks a bit heavy and slightly uncomfortable to wear: those aren't bad things in general but not positive in relation to the task. It's a bit more urban streetwear than sci-fi or resort. Still, I love this. It's like a kick of Vitamin C. The yellow composition that slithers down your model from the top of the head all the way down to the waist is really fun and this is a rare instance in which your model looks tangled and yet there's has an overall ease to it. I love this side of you and I'd like to see more of it, only more technically refined.

harry
Hot, weird and stylish. This has great impact. The layering is marvellous. I 50% like the bottom half, and 50% don't, but I'm not actually sure what could work better than what you chose, so well-done.

First thing I think of when I see this is a splash in a big pool, so you get points for that. You struggled a lot this week and I feel like it shows, and at the same time this is a pretty succesful look? I say that because you're quite innovative, and there's really barely any innovation on display here, but rather a look that comes together through some tasteful design choices and a nicely styled model. It's an incredibly sexy bathing suit rendered in the most soothing colors possible, and the eyewear is cute. Especially love the choice of the white shoes to give the other colors a little bit more depth. The more I look at it, the more I enjoy it, so you should be proud you pulled off something pretty great despite getting inside your head this week.
harry
The aliens called, they need their machine parts back!! I like the way you went with this, it feels extremely mechanical, yet still high-end fashion, and somehow extremely resortwear!!

You've been in every season of LidlTerm and in pretty much all your past attempts you've had a wobbly start. This is the second time in a row you're on fire and we're only on the second task. This jacket couldn't have been displayed in a better way; you don't really alter it in any way but you play around it and thus enhance both sides of this composition (the jacket and the black ... stuff). Adore that you mix a wine-red jacket with a pair of shoes that are in an even deeper red. The styling here with the hair/head composition is what brings it into sci-fi territory, in quite a sinister, dark way that is. I feel like you've found that perfect balance of figuring out how to apply yourself to the tasks and yet remaining within a defined Herby-aesthetic.
harry
My oh my... You are the 2nd one that I instantly guessed who this was, ironically you are also one that we haven't seen for a while, isn't that crazy!! I have never seen an outfit like this, I absolutely love it, very well-done. Only thing is I think it could be slightly more Mars? But idc I LOVE IT. Pls keep doing this

Filip
Your approach here was perfect. This look is dystopian, sci-fi due to it's avant garde and slightly unsettling nature, resortwear due to it's carefree and almost tropical aspects and most importantly: it's you. You managed to fulfill a whole set of criteria while you also didn't lose yourself in it, it's like you used yourself as a template. It was so smart to play on real life animalistic aspects and rendering them in unusual and unnatural colors, it's what brought it into the sci-fi sphere. I am absolutely crazy about you matching the texture of the hat with the black texture on the skirt. It's a look that takes you somewhere and that is what resortwear should do; put an idea of a time and place inside your head.
harry
I didn't receive names this week, but I instantly knew this to be you, even though we haven't seen you for a while you are instantly showing all of us your style. Extremely on task this week, zero complaints, love it!

Time for some tough love Cassandra: you need to listen and think about the advice you receive. You used your Tim Gunn session with me and was told that the dress you had made was winner-worthy, only if you made some other changes to the overall look. Instead you kept the things I adviced you to reconsider and threw away the dress, the complete opposite of what I adviced you to do! Let's focus on this look: the sunset shirt with that deep sea blue is absolutely gorgeous and I find that the dark violet bag works surprisingly well with the whole composition. It's a commercial look for sure, I just feel like you didn't take enough risks with the whole sci-fi aspect of the task and went for the obvious. Also not a fan of the shoes, they're just a bit overly sweet.
harry
This has a great vibe to it, it fits the theme perfectly.. however there is something about it that makes it a bit lackluster.. I have a feeling it's that jacket. Maybe you could have used a different neck accessory to merge the jacket in a bit more? Nice work though!

Next week I'd like to see you stray away from this cold, Nordic color palette, at least for one look. I was a bit disappointed when you submitted this but over the days it really grew on me and now I can say that I get it. The sword is absurd and perhaps ill-fitting: but that's what makes it sci-fi and a bit avant garde, it creates a reaction within the viewer, it makes you ask yourself about your idea of right and wrong in relation to sci-fi and resort. It's like a pseudo-matador who was abducted by aliens and is now chilling on planet Mars. The black composition is just fabulous and the double gloves are amusing and yet fashion-forward. Love the hat that comes with a set of ears. My one complaint: this task was probably best suited to your strengths and your aesthetic as a designer, so I was expecting you to absolutely crush it, which didn't really happen.
harry
Simplicity at its finest, honestly why are you cosplaying as me LOL, anyway, you have completely managed to make that sword merge completely in and not even look like a sword, props to ya! This is a great outfit, it's crazy for me to say this... But I don't think you needed the hat and ears together.

Filip
At first glance my immediate reaction is ''oh, another magic jacket look''. The more you look at the composition the better it gets though. The top, which looks to be made out of some hard plastic material or perhaps metal, is so intriguing, really great work on that one. I just love how you made the shoes and the glasses look metallic and a bit dirty. Had you been a bit more bold with your choices here, perhaps a more unusual jacket in an unorthodox color, this look would've been a hit. I must also say that I don't find the hair to be working for me, it's too big and distracting.
harry
Nice, there's nothing wrong with this outfit, I just think some things on it are a bit predictable, especially for a Mars task. Maybe more colour would've helped!

Filip
Most likely your best LidlTerm look of all time. The glasses and the cape-dress have that Jackie Kennedy-American sportswear quality to it, while the look is also infused with sci-fi elements such as the bizarre yet elegant headpiece. It's very creative. I just love the contrast between the sharp, fresh blue and the more grimy, tropical orange. It all looks expensive, care-free, bizarre and stylish as hell. I must also applaud the bold choice to use an old school flip flop in a PR competition, it's an item most designers stay away from. The use of the scarf makes it almost look like your model have their head above water. Perhaps I find this look so interesting because it plays with that 50's/60's concept of sci-fi like Judy Jetson, only now it's from a more dystopian point of view. This is simply perfect, congratulations.
harry
O m g, this is one I instantly fell in love with.. I asked Filip if this was someone else this week, but then he said it was you, and I was like "oh yh that makes sense" the weirdness is completely filling my Willy Wonka fantasy. It's SO fresh, SO editorial, lemme photograph you one day. Right on task

You made a mini-collection this week and wasn't sure which of the 3 to submit. Seeing all 3 looks, I feel like you were really onto something and that you had an interesting and fruitful concept. Perhaps it needed some more time to bake in the oven because the result isn't as good as it could be, considering the potential your concept has. I can see what you were going for. On a positive note, I think it's an unorthodox bathing suit and it looks almost rusty and worn out, which I applaud. The shoes also help to make your point across. Very chic earrings as well. If you stick to your aesthetic and just push the envelope a bit more as far as technicality goes, you'll be collecting several keys very soon.
harry
This outfit would've benefited alot from some hair, or a different coloured head accessory. But the outfit itself is lovely. I just wish the - styling - let it shine as well as it deserved.

About the look: it's fantastic. It has that colorful cartoony sci-fi feeling to it: the top is both messy and structured somehow. I appreciate that you used larger amounts of black and yet incorporated both earthy colors as well as brighter ones. I'm getting a bit of a sugar rush just looking at it. The shoes are wonderfully unexpected and exciting. Is it resort-wear? I'm not entirely sure, this look doesn't really fall under the classic definition of what resortwear is, but I can imagine a more hip city resort-destination somewhere in Mars in which some jet setter would wear this. I want to see this level of creativity from you every week.
harry
One of the more colourful outfits this week, and it works splendidly, one of the outfits this week got put down for their styling, but I want to point you out as one of the best stylist's this week. Very well-done!

Filip
I wasn't really feeling this submission from you, however, now that I see it against the set I think it looks really great. I'm not so sure your decision to have a sit-down look paid off this week, it's not that you falter, it's rather that there's no pay-off. Absolutely love the Martian color story and the fresh kick of forget-me-not blue (it's a color, look it up!). I don't really see the purpose of the military badge accessory, I just want to rip it off so I can see more of that beautiful ombre jacket on display. I think you make some great choices here, your challenge moving forward is to work on the silhouette and ask yourself what is effective in the look and what isn't.
harry
This sitting pose has alotta thought behind it! I can tell you have swapped out and tried different articles of clothing, you have managed to hide the gradient of that jacket/top to make it just look like two separate colours, I like that! It's not the most impactful outfit this week, but it's still nice :)

12 (+1) designers
3 will receive keys
Quite a diverse set of looks this panel, and once again several that I would like to reward with keys. As always, I am limited to the amount I've decided for each panel. Please remember that your ranking is not a score, it is merely an order in which I prefered the looks this week. If you ranked last, know that I still really enjoyed your look, there were no clunkers to be found here. As always, nothing is lady until the fat lady Lidl sings: you could have zero keys until the semi-final and still become a finalist. Then again, gaining keys along the are the only way to guarantee your way there.
In 3rd place
BUYARTPOP - congratulations, you've received 1 key
In 2nd place
Antheia-Ceres - congratulations, you've received 1 key
The winner of this task
Fierce.Needles
You couldn't have done a better job this task: you brought out a new side to you that yet related to a certain aesthetic of yours. Every move you made was a smart one and the composition has both complexity, ease, flow and a simplicity to it. You are the clear winner of this task.
