task 8 just gonna stand there and watch me burn?!
task 5 that's so picasso

Welcome to the fifth panel of LidlTerm!
Pablo Picasso was an artist whose work presented beauty in an avant garde way, he would highlight features of people that is unusual, and he would play with proportions and dimensions in a way that strayed far away from conventional beauty in a refreshing way. Pablo Picasso’s work was all about the beauty of things as they are, the perfect imperfection. His abstract art and bold fascination with portraying scenes with odd shapes and gorgeous color schemes makes him one of the most celebrated artists in the world.
This week, the designers had to choose one artpiece made by Pablo Picasso and design an outfit inspired by their choice.

I think you have a very modern aesthetic, so for a challenge like this you definitely incorporated that aspect of yourself while you were still inspired by a painting made 77 years ago, which I appreciate. I adore the custom made handbag and that you somehow managed to design a top which looks like a river on a summer night reflecting the stars. I don’t think one has to use every color from something they’re inspired by, yet I wish you had incorporated just one more color to not make it so dark. Overall you captured the sadness that the painting evokes, but I wish you had somehow managed to convey how captivating and unusual the woman in the painting is.

Somehow you managed to create a nude swirl on your model which represents the shapes in the artpiece brilliantly, I have no idea how you did it and I am very impressed. This is fun and abstract, the pop of yellow is exactly what completes the color scheme and by having your model in movement we got more skirt, it even looks more wavy than usual. I think this design is an interesting clash between sophistication and roughness. You need to put more thought into what colors you choose, although I think almost every color choice here is perfect, I know you changed the colors of your design seconds before we photographed it. I think this is the strongest week in LidlTerm so far and there are many great looks this week, but this is definitely the design that I would look at and have my first thought be ''Picasso''. Your outfit is a symphony of perfect imperfection, I get happy when I look at this, bravo!

filip:
The bottom is minimalistic and the top is abstract, very interesting and quite smart. Your aesthetic as a designer is sleek, modern, flirty and ready-to-wear designs which I think you should absolutely hold on to, but I wish you had dared to go just slightly more crazy and turned the volume up a bit more this week. The top is one of my favorites this week, the beard plays a part in the graphical design which is fun. I am in love with the detail of the blue top which bleeds over the orange jacket, so damn fabulous Rhenny. The Picasso painting is goofy and optimistic which I definitely feel like you convey through your design. I was worried you wouldn’t make it far after your week 2 design, but you have definitely established yourself as a front-runner by now.

Bold move, you’re taking a risk. That specific white flowy fabric and the shape of the black illusion you created has a very Spannish feel to it, which is lovely. I believe you captured the movement of the bull, there is a playful energy to this black and white design. I have a couple of issues though. First of all I am dying to see a shoe on this, you could’ve chosen something unorthodox and unusual or even just a pump or sandals. Imagine a wine red sandal with this, please send me a pic of it! The white scarf is a bit distracting also, I wish it was in black or that you chose some other accessory because it does not integrate that well with the rest of the garment. All in all I am a fan of this, you really surprised me this week and this design is refreshing which I applaud.

I know I am nitpicky but oh how I wish you had used just a slightly darker shade of yellow, the neon throws me off a bit. The bottom is perfect, you gave the skirt more volume with your pose and by adding red to the bottom of the shoe. The ombre effect from shoe to top is captivating and it is the strongest connection in your design to the painting, which is a piece of art that evokes a feeling of both sadness and excitement and I definitely feel like you did a good job at capturing that. This is a very classic silhouette, I wish the top had a bit more thought into it like the skirt has and I also think you could’ve really succeeded had you done something a bit more abstract and daring. This outfit is more Claude Monet than Pablo Picasso to me. Nonetheless, this is a gorgeous dress and you should walk into task 6 with your head held high.

filip:
The helmet is unexpected and risky, but I think it represents the playfulness and the statuesqueness of the rooster in a great, creative way. This design is likely the best utilization of colors this week, it is a lot but the transition of the colors is gorgeous, had it not been, this garment would have looked messy. There is something a bit crazy and aggressive about Picasso’s painting and you succesfully captured that with your design. My only complaint about this look is that I wish you had done something with the helmet to manipulate it, the earring doesn’t do that much for the design anyways. That particular belt is hated by all of the PR-community, in this case it’s not cliché, you actually incorporate it to create a stunning skirt. I’m impressed by this Cinthia, I think you definitely stepped outside of your own comfort zone and it took you to the top, if you keep designing like this it will be difficult for your fellow contestants to defeat you.

The Weeping Woman part 2

filip:
I am a fan of the top, it looks like yellow and purple paint which is drooping. The green shirt has an interesting texture to it and I think you utilized an appropriate amount of red. This design comes close to being really good, the only thing that stops it is the skirt which is a bit distracting, it just doesn’t belong with the other textures. I would’ve loved to have seen a long, sleek skirt with this, preferably in a slightly dark yellow. Overall this is quite pleasing to look at, I think you succesfully played with items this week to create a chic look. This should’ve been slightly more abstract and bold though, I think you as a designer do more freaking out than actually asking yourself what you want to design and what you think looks good. You had a certain confidence that showed in your outfits week 1 and 2, I’d like to see it again for next week.
The Red Armchair part 2

filip:
Time for some tough love. This is the second time you have resubmitted another look which is worse than the first one. Your first design had issues and missed the criteria of what the task is, but at least it looked good. I even warned you that someone else was doing this painting, considering that it is important to stand out at panel, but you went with this outfit and artpiece anyways. I see little correlation to the painting in your outfit. I think the shoes are a good representation and the mask is strange, but it has the function of giving a certain life and comedy to the design. The emotion of the mask has nothing to do with the painting however, and you completely lost me with the dress: there is barely any black in the painting and the red parts of the painting are sophisticated and soothing. The dress you’ve made is aggressive, intense, neon-red (?) and graphical in a way that lacks correlation to the painting. If we disregard the painting, the design on the dress just does nothing: it’s dated and unimaginative, energetic yet uninspiring. It works terribly with the green and gold accessories as well, items which I actually liked. I’m considering eliminating you as I’m writing this, you would’ve been safe for sure with your first submission.

filip:
I had a stroke when I saw this. Thanks a lot. There is so little of the painting in this, Picasso’s The Weeping Woman depicts a sorrowful lady, her pain is so fresh and evident. She also looks quite put together. Although I can sense an attempt to be abstract, this just looks strange and not in any good way. What’s with the green wonky titty? I actually find the skirt relating to the painting and the shoes are nice, however this look is just iconically bad because of the top. Had you just put a little more thought into this you could’ve won this challenge, this is a crash and burn. I’m more than fine with nudity, it’s just such an unflattering design. Credit where it’s due, this is interesting to look at. I am torn whether I should keep you or gnge, because you have been one of my favorite designers on Habbo for a long time and you still are.
This is easily the strongest week of LidlTerm season 1 so far, I have grown fond of this cast, I am so happy that I get to deal with a cast so fun, creative and nice. Thank you for contributing to the panels and for making this season what I wanted it to be from the start.
Congratulations Goofyzik, you really understood what the task was asking for, your design is stunning, inspiring and looks like a walking Pablo Picasso painting. Well done to Cinthia and Rhenny who both made it to the top this week with their creative and energetic designs.
Unfortunately doja_cat is leaving us this week. Rae, you are fucking stunning and perfect in your own way, it just wasn't meant to be this time. Thank you for putting your mark on this season and for always having a great attitude and a fun energy.
