TASK 2 THE NAME IS BOND, JAMES BIMINI BON BOULASH BOND

Welcome to the second panel of LidlTerm S2!
For this task, the designers were asked to create an outfit inspired by the iconic movie series of James Bond. The challenge was about capturing the feeling and the aesthetic of the movie series. The criteria was that the outfit should have a sense of adventure, danger, confidence and style to it as well as a high-end feeling. Let's see the designers did!

This look is all about the attitude. By choosing to pose in that angle and by having 90 % of the outfit be in black, there really wouldn’t be that much to look at besides the accessories. Luckily for you, you accessorized the shit out of this outfit and it worked in your favor. Last week I felt like your personality as a designer didn’t exactly come through and I’m happy to say that this week you changed that. The most interesting aspect of this outfit is the little dotted gold trim at the bottom. Next week you have the opportunity to really hit it out of the park if you continue like this and take in my advice.

I am a fan of this. Sure, you’re not reinventing the wheel with these items you chose but this outfit is all about the textures and you’ve done a brilliant job at pairing together items to create a cool leather design. The pops of colors help elevate the outfit and was needed to stand out from other submissions this week and it also feels like a move to apply your stamp as a designer. I have seen you grown so much over a year and I am a huge fan of you taking more conceptual routes and this outfit shows that less is more when there is a great textural story, had you crammed on a belt, earrings and a hat you would’ve just dragged this outfit down. There is a dark and sexy vibe to the corset and the skirt, there is almost the illusion of a gray/black spine.

I dropped my jaw when you submitted this, Alex … your model is naked!? I feel like you’ve made longterm history as I’ve never seen this happen before, this is literally the tale of The Emperor’s New Clothes. I love this for how funny it is, but you would’ve had to create a bottom piece for the model in order to land a top 3 placement. The gold details are GORGEOUS even though I think the golden sideburn looks like a sideburn. Having the Indian top be in a nude illusion was a brilliant idea as it adds a whole new meaning to it and the best thing about you as a designer is that you always bring something exciting and unexpected. I especially adore how the gold details integrate into the black glove. The pastel green heels are surprising but I think they work. You definitely didn’t play it safe this week and took no risks which gave mixed results but I am begging you to continue with taking risks.

This design is all about the cool accessory you’ve constructed which is fantastic. This is one of the looks in which it’s most clear you were inspired by the Bond villains and I love that it looks like you’ve got a jetpack on, I definitely get an adventurous feeling from this look. The red almost looks like your model is bleeding but in a subtle, fashion-forward way. I just wish there wasn’t so much black because there isn’t that much to critique here, perhaps a different jacket or less black would’ve helped. I’m impressed with your use of the black rainbow tattoo because 9 out of 10 times I think people fail when they use it. Two weeks in a row now you have shown innovation and creativity and I’m looking forward to see what you come up with next week.

At first glance this outfit is good but the more I look at it the less I like it. The necklace-belt combination is cute but it’s also really cliché in the PR-world and I don’t want to see it again. I’m actually a bit surprised that you submitted this, last week your design was such a stylish and creative composition and this week your outfit doesn’t have the same spark. In order to achieve the same result next week it’s important that you have fun with the task. The red Christmas shoes are really tricky to use and they don’t come off very great here. I enjoy the gloves, the earring and the red tones on the top. I have faith you could win this season if you figure out what makes you great as a designer.

This is a campy, fun and cool design that showcases your style and your personality and I really enjoy this look, even though it is a bit too literal for a James Bond task. The silver gun detail is a great addition to the often over-used belt and you brought one of the most dramatic designs this week which I commend you for. I’ve watched you make your way through the last two tasks and I’ve seen you have a lot of anxiety about creating outfits and being judged, which is perfectly reasonable, PR is not for everyone. I asked you if you would be interested to continue in this longterm if you survived this week and you said you would only do it out of loyalty to me, which is very sweet. You have grown a lot in a short amount of time but I can’t let you continue in this competition when you don’t enjoy it and there are others who are hungry to compete and show more. Thank you so much for taking part Cal!

There is no designer on Habbo who takes more risks and who plays by their own rules more than you and I want you to promise me you never change that, your attitude to creating art is what makes greatness and it’s a quality that money can’t buy. I like this outfit but I don’t love it. Your design is deconstructed and it has a torn quality to it which is perfect for this task and I think the corset along with the black fur looks amazing. The tie does absolutely nothing for your outfit, the gun-belt is a bit too literal and adds to the messiness and although I find the shoes to be gorgeous I don’t think they go with this outfit even though I appreciate the risk you took. The nude illusion of the skirt is also cool. Overall you had a great concept and some choices were really successful, others not so much.

I am happy I gave you a second chance last week, I was hoping you would dig deeper and show me more of what you’re capable of and you definitely did that. I’m honestly not a fan of the shoes and the skirt as they look like they belong to a babydoll dress or something, they don’t have the same cool aura as your top. At first glance this design might not be anything special but the longer one looks at the top and what hides underneath the jacket, the more your design is elevated. I adore the intricate and mysterious feeling to your top and it definitely looks fresh, stylish and a bit dangerous. Next week I want to se more innovation from you, take bigger risks!

The key to standing out in this task was to incorporate colors and you managed to figure that out. The more I look at this design the more I love it, it has a European (French or Italian) vibe to it which really speaks to me. The graphical composition is one of my favorite things I have ever seen you done. What is interesting is the styling: you’ve put the hat, hair, earring and nose ring all in an identical color which makes it avant garde, it feels like something out of a painting. Looking at your outfit I can hear some kind of soundtrack in my head, something a bit jazzy and sneaky. You took the concept of a simple suit and made it as interesting as possible which really isn’t easy with Habbo’s limitations. The shoes really elevates the outfit and prevents it from looking too drab and heavy, fantastic work this week Brad!

Wow so avant garde Peter! It’s like you’ve mixed a glamorous Bond girl with the actual spy-character that James Bond is. The skirt underneath the skirt is magnificent and your whole look just feels like it’s from a James Bond movie in the year 2040. I am so intrigued by how this design is overflowing with attitude and a fuck-you-if-you-don't-like-it kind of vibe. I must say some of the proportions and the illusions in your design is a bit strange, it’s like the model is half-naked and the zipper ends right by the model’s hoo-haa and underneath the hoo-haa is a skirt. I am a big fan of this side of you as a designer and I want you to experiment like this every week, I’m impressed Peter and I’m grateful you designed something we’ve never seen before!

As a designer you definitely have your trademark style figured out and I love that about you, you are also good at styling. This is a cute outfit and I really like how you used the tattoo and the necklace to create a dirty quality to the top. Having said that this is just too basic and it lacks innovation, this season features designers that are the best of the best and this design does not say ‘’I’m doing everything I can to win 500 coins and the title’’.

Finally someone managed to create something cool out of the stubborn detective’s coat! There is a really cool gothic vibe to this design, a couple of James Bond novels include gothic elements so I guess it suits this task. There is lots of attitude to your design, your model DEMANDS your attention. The star of your outfit are the red, venomous details and I absolutely love the red shoulder part. Mixing this rather dark, almost historic looking dress with some modern Billie Ellish/Gen Z shoes was a great way to make your design more interesting, you took a risk and it paid off. I also particularly like how the trim of the dress looks shredded or damaged which fulfills the adventurous criteria.

At this point you have established yourself as an urban streetwear designer and I think that is where your strength lies. I am in love with the colorful details, it looks like magic. The black hat as a statement piece feels very PR in 2014 but I actually enjoy this throwback. You managed to combine comfortable streetwear with a sense of executive, high-end, sexy fashion and that impresses me, I believe what makes this design successful is that you spent time working on sex appeal. I’m not a fan of the shoes though but overall your outfit has a great adventurous feeling to it.

I believe you have gone a long way in figuring out what defines you as a designer and this is a great, glamorous dress. Although the styling with the hair, earrings and shoes is superb I just can’t help but to feel uninterested by the dress, I have seen it so many times and the composition of the top is just not original or exciting enough. I think you were on to something potentially great and if you had spent perhaps another 30-60 minutes designing you could’ve came up with something brilliant. The key to becoming a great designer is to constantly push yourself and experiment and I don’t believe you gave it your all in making this design. This is in no way a bad effort but it gets lost in the crowd of the other designs this week.

This was the perfect task to use pinstripes and you did it in a brilliant way. Last week I felt like you were playing it safe a bit which is unusual for you so I’m very happy you stepped it up this week. Interestingly there are a lot of layers and textures to this look but yet it is sleek and sexy despite the fact that very little skin showing and it all flows together very well. The task asked for something that had a sense of danger and confidence to it and you nailed it and this is definitely fashion that tells a story, I just want to know more about the scenario the model is in. The blue heels are my favorite aspect, they’re almost like a breath of fresh air. It’s quite hard to critique this outfit because you had a strong concept and an equally strong execution and there isn’t anything I would change.

Congratulations Snawl, you are the winner of this week's task. Your design may not be the most grandiose this week, however I believe you made magic with your smart choices, your excellent details and your impressive attention to style. Your design is my clear favorite.
Well done to Razzing and Cinthia who managed to gain a spot in the top 3, yet again that was not an easy feat this week. Keep it up and you will both be hard to beat.
AuburnSunset, Aiti and rupaulsotherwig - I'm sorry but the three of you have been eliminated. I am very grateful towards the three of you and it has been great having you three involved. It really felt like a kill-your-darlings scenario having to eliminate three designers but I have to do it in order to keep this longterm on schedule, in no way was it easy or fun to eliminate any of you.
